Individuality
It’s a song about me.
It’s a song about me.
It’s a song about my individuality.
About the clothes I wear.
About the colour of my hair.
And it’s about who I want to be near.
It’s a song about me.
It’s a song about me.
Sometimes I just want to be all by myself,
And sometimes I don’t.
Sometimes we do agree,
And sometimes we don’t.
Sometimes I want to do the same as you.
I might also change my mind!
It’s good
That all our faces aren’t the same.
And it’s good
That we all have a different name.
And it’s good
That we are all a different shape
Tall, short, big, small, in between.
You like…
To eat sardines with jam on top.
And I like…
To drink hot chocolate till I pop.
And you like…
To spread your toast with marmalade.
I’ll try yours if you try mine.
Paradise - with sign language
In the morning, can you hear the tui call?
Can you hear the tui call, can you?
Then in the evening when the sun goes down
And the moon is out, hold my hand.
Chorus
Can we chill underneath this pohutakawa tree,
Life is a breeze like 1,2,3 ahuh. Come on.
Let’s take a dip in the ocean and watch the sunset.
Time is precious that’s what we forget oh no.
It’s gone...
This is, where the taniwha was born.
Where Maui drew his hook, my home
And no one can take this away from me
My land is a part of me till I’m old.
Chorus
Bridge
Hold my hand and raise your glass to
Life in paradise, paradise.
I can take you places people only dream of.
But it’s all mine in paradise.
Chorus
Coda
Time is precious that’s what we forget
Time is precious that’s what we forget oh no, it’s gone
Time is precious that’s what we forget time is precious, oh no, it’s gone.

Junior choir performance at the Island Bay School Cultural Evening ~ Friday 19th September
Dear Junior
Choir parents and caregivers,
The Junior
Choir has been singing beautifully lately. After performing for the Island Bay
kindy kids and in the school’s Wiki o te reo Māori celebration, we’re looking forward to
performing for you and the school community on Friday 19th September
at the Home & School’s Cultural Evening.
The evening
runs from 5.30pm – 8.30pm. There will be more details about the food available
and the rough schedule for the evening in next week’s newsletter. The key
things to know are that there’ll be a break for dinner from 6.30pm – 7.00pm and
then a DVD will be playing in K2 for kids to watch (if they want) while parents
continue to watch the performances.
We will meet
at 5.30pm in K2 (Noeline’s classroom), ready to perform at roughly 5.45pm.
After our performance, parents and caregivers can pick up children from K2 at
roughly 6.00pm (we’ll check them off from our list) and either head home or
stay to enjoy the rest of the evening.
Please
return the slip below to the school office to let us know if your child is able
to perform.
We’re
looking forward to a wonderful evening!
Nga mihi,
Jarryd
